    A mysterious fire razed down a dormitory housing 140 students at Ritembu Mixed Boarding in Kisii’s Magena area, Bomachoge Borabu.

    No student was injured in the Thursday morning incident, school official said.

    The school principal Rose Oroko said fire started around 8.00 in the morning.

    The students had already reported for morning studies, she added. .

    “What is still baffling us is that there was no electricity then, i just saw huge smoke billowing out and quickly alerted others who rushed and quickly put the fire out,” she said.

    Most affected were the students’ personal effects among them mattresses and books.

    The incident left the school community shaken.

    Police in Magena are investigating the incident, officials said.

    Meanwhile, police in Bisembe, Magwagwa, Nyamira County are investigating the murder of one Fred Clement, 47.

    His body was found lying near Bisembe Bridge with a deep cut on the head.

    The body was moved to the Ibara Hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.

    In Nyamusi, Nyamira County, one Douglas Ndubi, 40 was found dead in his house. It is suspected he swallowed a poison.

    Police visited the scene and picked up the body to the morgue.

    Police said they are investigating both incidents with an aim of taking action.
