    NACOSTI Announces Vacanies for Chairperson, Board Members

    The National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) has announced vacancies for the positions of chairperson and board members.

    In a public notice published in MyGov on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the commission said it is seeking to recruit a chairperson and three members to join its board.

    According to the notice, applicants for the chairperson position must hold an earned doctorate from a university recognized in Kenya, be eminent scientists, and demonstrate the ability to contribute to science, technology and innovation. Candidates must also have at least 15 years of leadership and management experience in public or private institutions and meet the integrity requirements outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.

    Applicants should not be serving in the public service, chairing another public entity board, or serving as members of more than one public board.

    For board member positions, candidates must hold at least a master’s degree from a recognized university, possess knowledge and experience in science, technology and innovation, and demonstrate the ability to contribute to the sector. They must also meet integrity standards and must not be serving in the public service or holding membership in more than one public board.

    NACOSTI noted that applicants with degrees from foreign universities must obtain certification from the Commission for University Education confirming recognition of the institutions.

    The chairperson and board members will serve a term not exceeding three years and will be eligible for reappointment for one additional term. Allowances will be determined by the government from time to time.

    Applications should include a cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae using the template available on NACOSTI’s website, copies of academic and professional certificates, national identification documents, and relevant testimonials.

    Applicants may hand-deliver documents during working days to NACOSTI headquarters off Waiyaki Way in Nairobi, email signed and scanned copies in PDF format to the selection panel, or send applications by post addressed to the Chairperson, Selection Panel for the Appointment of Chairperson and Members of NACOSTI Board, P.O. Box 30623-00100, Nairobi.

    Applications must be clearly marked for either the chairperson or member position and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. (EAT) on Monday, March 16, 2026.
