    Natalia Marisa Oreiro Iglesias, commonly known as Natalia Oreiro, is a multifaceted Uruguayan talent born on May 19, 1977, in Montevideo, Uruguay.

    She holds citizenship in Uruguay, Argentina, and Russia, reflecting her international appeal and career trajectory.

    Oreiro is renowned as an actress, singer, songwriter, model, television presenter, and fashion designer, with a career that spans telenovelas, films, music albums, and entrepreneurial ventures.

    Her parents are Carlos Florencio Oreiro Poggio and Mabel Cristina Iglesias Bourié, and she is of Galician and Italian descent.

    In 1986, her family briefly relocated to Málaga, Spain, for two years before returning to Uruguay.

    Oreiro married Argentine musician Ricardo Mollo on December 31, 2001, and the couple welcomed their son, Merlín Atahualpa Mollo Oreiro, on January 26, 2012, in Buenos Aires.

    Beyond her professional life, she is actively involved in social causes, serving as a UNICEF ambassador for Argentina and Uruguay since 2011 and supporting organizations like Greenpeace.

    Natalia has one sibling, an older sister named Adriana Oreiro, whose full name is Adriana Patricie Oreiro Iglesias Maverino.

    Born four years before Natalia, Adriana shares a close bond with her sister, and the two have collaborated professionally on their fashion brand, Las Oreiro, which they co-founded.

    Adriana serves as the CEO and fashion designer for the brand, highlighting their shared entrepreneurial spirit.

    Growing up in Montevideo’s Villa del Cerro neighborhood, the sisters experienced a humble family life, and Natalia has often spoken fondly of their childhood, including playful anecdotes about sibling rivalries that left lasting memories, such as a scar from one of their fights.

    Oreiro’s career began early, with her studying drama at the age of eight and auditioning for commercials by twelve, eventually appearing in over 30 advertisements for brands like Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

    At 16, she moved to Argentina, where she landed roles in telenovelas such as Inconquistable corazón, Dulce Ana, and Modelos 90-60-90.

    Her breakthrough came in 1997 with Ricos y famosos, followed by the massive international success of Muñeca Brava (known as Wild Angel) in 1998-1999, which aired in over 80 countries and catapulted her to stardom.

    Parallel to acting, Oreiro launched her music career with her self-titled debut album in 1998, which sold over 1.5 million copies, followed by Tu Veneno in 2000 and Turmalina in 2002, amassing global sales exceeding 10 million records.

    She transitioned more toward films after 2008, starring in projects like Cleopatra (2003), Las Vidas posibles (2008), Música en espera (2009), Mi primera boda (2011), Infancia clandestina (2012), and Wakolda (The German Doctor) in 2013.

    Oreiro returned to television with hits like Sos mi vida (2006), broadcast in more than 40 countries, and has since balanced acting with fashion design through Las Oreiro and hosting gigs.

    Her work has particularly resonated in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Russia, where she enjoys a dedicated fanbase.

    Accolades

    Oreiro received a Latin Grammy nomination in 2001 for Best Female Pop Vocal Album for Tu Veneno, marking her as the first Uruguayan artist nominated for a Grammy in that category.

    In acting, Oreiro has won multiple Martín Fierro Awards for Best Actress, including for her roles in Muñeca Brava and Sos mi vida.

    She has earned three Silver Condor Awards from the Argentine Film Critics Association, a Platino Award for Ibero-American Cinema, and the 2006 Clarín Award for Best Actress in a Television Comedy.

    Additionally, in 2012, she was honored with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Argentina Award, and she has received international recognition such as the Kid’s Choice Award in Argentina and the Kikito de Cristal in Brazil for her overall artistic contributions.

    Oreiro’s accolades extend to nominations for MTV Video Music Awards and her inclusion in Esquire magazine’s “The Sexiest Woman Alive” list.
