    NYS Announces Massive Recruitment Drive For Instructors And Lecturers

    The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced new job opportunities for Technical Instructors and Lecturers to be filled in September 2025. The Service is offering 130 positions for Technical Instructor III posts across 29 different courses and 21 lecturer positions at two academic levels.

    In the instructor category, NYS is hiring in a variety of courses including Accounting, Farm Management, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, Sales and Marketing, Irrigation and Drainage Technology, Horticulture, Catering and Accommodation, Supply Chain Management, Carpentry and Joinery, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Cosmetology, Plant and Services Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Fashion Design, Food and Beverage, Mechanical Engineering (Plant), Business Management, General Agriculture, Animal Health and Production, Building and Construction, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, ICT, Mechanical Fabrication and Automotive Engineering. The largest number of vacancies is in Automotive Engineering which has 22 slots.

    To qualify for appointment as a Technical Instructor III, a candidate must possess a diploma in any of the listed fields, a certificate in computer applications and satisfy the integrity requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution. A National Youth Service discharge certificate is considered an added advantage. The successful candidates will earn between Sh28,620 and Sh37,100 per month, receive Social Health Authority (SHA) medical cover and will be entitled to house, leave and commuter allowances equivalent to civil service benefits.

    In addition, NYS has advertised 13 positions for Lecturer II in eight disciplines including French, Secretarial Studies, Entrepreneurship, Business Management, Hospitality Management, Human Resource Management, Fashion and Textile Design and Supply Chain Management. Applicants must hold a relevant bachelor’s degree to qualify.

    The Service has also opened 38 Lecturer I positions in 22 areas including Agricultural Economics, Animal Health Science, Civil and Structural Engineering, Quantity Survey, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Automotive Engineering, ICT, Food and Nutrition, Commerce, Mathematics, Aeronautical Engineering and other specialized technical fields. These positions require a bachelor’s degree in the specific subject area listed and candidates must also meet the same Chapter Six requirements.

    Applicants for all positions are required to fill the PSC2 (Revised 2016) application form and attach a detailed curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic certificates, testimonials and a copy of the national ID or passport. Applications must be submitted by September 1, 2025 either through postal delivery to the Commandant General, National Youth Service, P.O. Box 30397 – 00100, GPO Nairobi, hand-delivered at the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka, or emailed to sysdhrm@gmail.com with the job title clearly indicated in the subject line.
