Governor Okoth Obado has been released on bail of Sh 5 million with sureties of the same amount. The court said that the evidence against him was circumstantial and was based in conjecture and therefore could not serve as grounds to deny bail
He has however been ordered to deposit all his travel documents which are his passport and diplomatic pass if he has any.
Justice Lessit also ordered to report to the court registrar every month during the trial period. Thu High court judge also ordered not to go 20km into Homabay county. He has also been asked to not to contact the witnesses either directly or via proxy.

Governor Obado has also been told to stay away from the family of the Late Sharon Otieno.
The court denied bail for his co accused Micheal Oyamo and Caspal Obiero stating that granting the two bail would cause public unrest.
Justice Lessit said that the probability of the two skipping bail was high and therefore ordered that they be detained until the date of the trial. The case will be heard on between May 6-17 2019. They have however been accorded the right to appeal the ruling
