The ODM Party is set to relocate its headquarters from the Orange House located on Menelik Road, Kilimani area, Nairobi.
The house has been the centre for all the party activities since its formation in 2006.
The house is owned by one Caroli Omondi who was a member of the party before his appointment to the National Oil Corporation of Kenya Board.
He was also Raila Odinga’s chief of staff during his stint as Prime Minister in the Grand Coalition government with Retired President, Mwai Kibaki.
The appointment, many say, has something to do with the non-renewal of the lease, an allegation the party has denied.
In a statement, the communication’s director, Philip Etale confirmed that the agreement to not renew the lease was arrived at on 28 May, 2018 as a mutual agreement with the landlord.
“We wish to confirm that the tenancy of our National Secretariat at the current premises known as Orange House will come to its end on December 31, 2018 and by mutual consent between the Landlord and tenant, we have agreed not to renew it,” reads the statement.

The statement adds that the move is to allow the landlord to construct a multi-storey office block on the property in line with the current trends of land use in the neighborhood.
The new location is however yet to be confirmed.
“You know this is something that once we finalise, becomes public. It can’t be a secret,” ODM’s Executive Director, Oduor Ong’wen said.
The party leader operates from his Capital Hill office, but uses the Orange House as a centre for the party’s meetings and organization, especially in times of political crises.
