Police have arrested one person and seized about 800 litres of illicit brew in an operation carried out in Nairobi.

Officers from Shaurimoyo Police Station in Buruburu Sub-County conducted the operation in Majengo slums after receiving intelligence on illegal alcohol activities. During the raid, police discovered large quantities of chang’aa hidden in polythene bags inside a suspected brewing den.

The suspect was arrested and is being held at the police station as investigations continue. The individual is expected to be arraigned in court.

In a statement, the National Police Service said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on the production and sale of illicit alcohol, which poses serious health and security risks to the public.

“The National Police Service commends the public for providing information and the officers involved for their swift response,” police said.
