Orange is following in the footsteps of yuMobile which launched the Pay4me service in January 2012. The mobile network operator has now launched ‘NiSort’ service which enables subscribers to reverse call charges to the person they expect to communicate with. This service is available on Orange to Orange calls.
According to Orange’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Maureen Sande, “‘NiSort’, will enable customers make calls when the calling party’s credit balance is zero. The service will request the call recipient to accept the charges, before completing the call.”
Orange targets subsribers who need to make urgent calls but are not near a credit recharge facility or have not money to buy the credit.
Reverse charge calls were very famous during the old days when landlines (fixed line network) were the main means of voice communication.
To access NiSort, an Orange subscriber will simply dial 128 followed by the intended recipient’s mobile number. To follow a voice prompt, a subscriber will dial 127 and listen to the instructions. An Orange subscriber can also dial #123# to access the USSD menu and select the service.
