    Police Officer Captured On CCTV Camera Breaking Into A Building Charged

    A Police officer who was caught on Surveillance Cameras breaking into a building has been charged.

    According to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Constable Shadrack Lagat was charged at a Maral court on Monday with the offence of breaking into a building and committing a felony.

    The officer was positively identified through the police identification parade.

    Lagat is said to have committed the offence on the night of 10 December, 2018.

    Last week, in a separate incident, three police officers and five security guards were charged with burglary.

    The officers identified as Philip Thuo Kangethe, Shadrack Josiah Mumo and Joseph Ndiku Mwongela are accused of breaking into a warehouse in Nairobi and stealing.

    The men in uniform are alleged to have colluded with Simon Ong’ori, Martin Otabu, Wycliffe Chanyi, Daniel Kioko Ngozi and David Njogu Mwaniki to steal property belonging to Nabico Enterprises Limited.

    The property valued at Sh900,178 include 7,224 pieces of Genie energy saving lamps and 320 top plugs.

    The accused also faced an alternative charge of handling stolen property.
