Officials are investigating an incident where at least 29 cows died after grazing on a suspected poisoned pasture in Chepchoina, Trans Nzoia County.

A manager at the local Agricultural Development Corporation Nai Farm Complex reported that from September 16, 2025 up to September 28, 2025, a herd of livestock at the farm started showing symptoms of sickness and began dying one after the other after feeding on suspected poisoned pasture (grass) in the field.

A sample of carcasses was taken to Eldoret veterinary investigation laboratories for analysis, where it was confirmed that the livestock had fed on poisoned pasture.

It was established that 29 heads of cattle had died and several others are seriously affected.

The motive of the incident is yet to be known. The remaining dozens of cows are under medication, officials said.

ADC Nai Farm is a tapestry of agriculture spanning 1578 hectares (3945 acres). Located in Chepchoina ward, Endebess Subcounty.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian national was arrested for peddling narcotic drugs in Mjambere, Mombasa County.

Police said they detained Patrick Kelech and found a roll of cannabis sativa in his pocket. A search in his house recovered 150 grams of whitish crystalline believed to be cocaine of psychotropic substances.

    He was detained pending arraignment.

And there was drama at the Kajiado police station when police arrested a South Sudanese national for allegedly trying to force his way into an armory.

A police officer on duty said on Sunday he was returning arms to the station armory when a man who was standing at the report office tried to enter there by force.

He was arrested and upon searching him he was identified as Emmanuel Agaw Awer from South Sudan and had a United Arab Emirates card indicating that he is a sales assistant.

He was detained pending investigations on his motives there after he claimed he was a soldier.
