While Jane Njagi, owner of Sh1.5 billion Dove Court Apartments along Rhapta Road, Westlands lives like a pauper in her own compound, her alleged property manager Lily Macharia is living large.

According to the Star, Ms Njagi resides in a small apartment right across Lily’s. In her small kitchen was a fridge with three packets of milk and six-pack can of soda while at the latter’s exquisitely furnished home are kitchen tables built with marble stone and cabinet drawers made out of hard polished metal.

In Lily’s living room however are CCTV cameras which Njagi’s family claim are meant to monitor their kin’s whereabouts and those coming in and out of her apartment.

This apparently has been the situation for the past couple of years. But in 2013, the family says that Jane who is said to have worked with the late George Saitoti, ran away from her home which Njagi claimed had been turned into a holding “cell” by Prophet David Owuor.

Her younger brother, Duncan Njagi says that their sister ran away from her home for three days because she was being mistreated.

“It was as if she was in a cage and she ran away from the apartments for three days. She had explained to me that she was tired and needed some time off,” Duncan explained.

The “Mightiest prophet” would later reach out to her and threaten to sell off her multi-billion shilling properties if she failed to return, adding that she went through hell for three months after her return.

“She was being beaten and they did not allow any family member to see her,” he said.

Ms Njagi, the family also notes, was held in one of the houses downstairs, fitted with CCTV cameras.

While in here for three months, the former lawyer was denied food and demoted from being one of the bishops at the Holiness and Repentance Ministries.

“She was beaten up for escaping, starved in this house (pointing at the house). She was even demoted from being a bishop as a measure to teach her lesson. Can you imagine being caged in the apartments you own?” posed Duncan.

Her family also stated that Ms Njagi is currently in hospital as the tussle continues.
