Nyanza police boss Leonard Katana issued an alert after River Yala broke its banks near the Dominion Farms in Alego, Siaya. He urged residents living along the River bank in Alego and Siaya to move to safer grounds.

Meanwhile, Energy CS Charles Keter warned residents living near Tana River to move to safer areas or risk being carried away by the floods. This is because the water in Masinga Dam have been reported to have risen to 1055.53 metres and is 0.97 metres away from spilling over.
Masinga dam feeds Kamburu, Kindaruma, Gitaru and Kiambere. So the residents in the surrounding communities have been urged to take necessary precautions.
