Governor Mike Sonko has implicated his predecessor Evans Kidero and unnamed Nairobi MCA in the death of city lawyer Steven Kariuki Mburu.
The lawyer was allegedly drugged while having drinks at a city joint where he slept and never woke up.
Governor Sonko said that the MCA of Makongeni is the one who orchestrated the death of the lawyer.

While passing his condolences, the county boss said that the vibrant lawyer might have died after a deal to transfer Sh.58 million from the county government went sour.
Through his Facebook page, the lawyers firm Wachira Mburu, Mwangi & co. Advocates was used to deduct the 30% tax and pay to KRA but armed thugs were sent to his house and was threatened to transfer the funds to the Cups ltd owned by a Mr. George Wanaina Njogu (former Nairobi county chief of staff) & John Ngari Wanaina in full.
According to Sonko, the lawyer felt threatened and was forced to transfer the money to CUPS LTD who allegedly withdrew and paid the MCA in cash and deposited the balance to Kidero’s account.
The governor promised that the death of the lawyer would not go unpunished as there is a paper trail implicating all those who received money unscrupulously.
The Governor said that the MCA had sent a message that the governor should not step into his ward.
