    Nairobi Governor, Mike SOnko

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has suspended the Matatu ban from the city’s Central Business District (CBD) area for 30 days.

During a meeting with Matatu Owners at the City Hall, it was resolved that there will be ‘no double parking, no obstruction, no unnecessary U-turns, no noise pollution in CBD, no blocking of business premises.’

The county boss has said that the county will come up with permanent solutions including ‘speedy construction of storeyed and underground parkings, expansion of our roads to include special lanes for buses with a carrying capacity of 150 passengers.’

The buses will pick the residents from the bus termini at no extra cost.

Matatu Owners had prior to the meeting termed the move as ‘impossible’ saying that the county boss had not consulted them before making the decision.
