Several people have been injured in the Congo area of Kawangware when a crowd of people alleged to be members of the Mungiki sect carrying pangas attacked the area following differences over the presidential elections.

There were retaliatory attacks after the said youth were seen to be looting the shops  and set a supermarket ablaze in Kawangware. This led to a clash between the residents and the purported Mungiki sect members. The rowdy crowd was seen cutting and injuring people while looting their shops.
