The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have agreed to establish a Broad-Based Management Committee to coordinate and harmonize the legislative and executive agenda of government, in a move aimed at enhancing policy coherence and service delivery.
In a joint statement issued on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at State House, the two parties said the committee will bring together party leaders, selected Cabinet Secretaries, and the Majority and Minority Leaders from Parliament.
The statement was signed by ODM party leader Oburu Odinga and UDA leader President William Ruto following a consultative meeting that brought together the UDA Steering Committee and the ODM Central Management Committee.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two political formations and identifying areas of mutual interest in governance and national development.
“The committee will be tasked with coordinating and synchronizing the legislative and executive agenda of the government to ensure coherence, efficiency, and effective service delivery,” the statement read in part.
The meeting also resolved that the respective party chairpersons will continue with structured and regular consultations across party organs to deepen collaboration.
“Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to constructive dialogue, unity of purpose, and a shared vision for national development and inclusive governance,” the statement added.
The arrangement comes amid ongoing political negotiations between the two parties, with ODM previously pushing for broader power-sharing arrangements, including representation in senior government positions. President Ruto has, however, consistently emphasized the importance of maintaining cooperation between the parties in pursuit of national stability and development.
