President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM party leader Raila Odinga have received Honorary Degrees of Doctor of Sciences of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.
The head of state was honored for his dedication to development for the good of all Kenyans, various achievements and his show of exemplary patriotism.
“I accept with humility the university’s acceptance to honour me during this graduation ceremony,” the President said.
Odinga on the other hand received the honorary degree in recognition of his immense contribution to the society.
In an advert placed in the MyGov pages in November, the institution of higher learning vice chancellor, Stephen Agong’ said the opposition leader has promoted the infrastructure industry, settlement, sciences and environmental conservation.
“The university charter believes Raila ascribes to the values of the learning institution and has rendered distinguished service in the advancement of any branch of learning or service to humanity,” Agong’ said.
The two were also honored for their peace deal that shocked the world and is now famously known as the “handshake” that took place on March 9.
