The rally, led by UDA Deputy Presidential candidate Rigathi Gachagua was marred by an exchange of words between the two leaders, with each trying to prove to be superior.

“I will no longer buy fear from you Kabogo, you spoke here and I did not interrupt you, my focus is on developing Kiambu and do not dare me. Look elsewhere if you want to sell fear – who told you this county belongs to you? Shut up and get out of here!” Wamatangi lamented after Kabogo interjected him.

The Kiambu gubernatorial seat is hotly contested and has attracted the attention of five candidates.

James Nyoro is running on the Jubilee Party ticket, Kimani Wamatangi on the UDA Party ticket, Moses Kuria on Chama cha Kazi, William Kabogo on Tujibebe Party and Peter Wainaina Wa Jungle who is on an independent ticket.

Notably, Moses Kuria has asked Kiambu residents to shun other candidates including Wamatangi’s UDA and to elect him as their Governor.

“Don’t vote for someone who only joined UDA recently after he noticed that he has run out of options and is opportunistic enough to lie to the people that he wants to work for them. Reject him,’’ Mr Kuria told locals.
