Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has announced a temporary water supply interruption in several parts of the city following a major pipeline burst in Gigiri.
In a statement issued on Friday, May 1, 2026, the utility said the burst occurred along the NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete transmission line, disrupting water supply to areas served by Kabete Reservoirs.
The affected areas include Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Kileleshwa, Upper Hill, Ngong Road, Madaraka, Nairobi West, Uthiru, Karen, Kibera and Lang’ata, as well as surrounding neighbourhoods.
The company said repair works are ongoing, with teams from Athi Water Works Development Agency and Nairobi Water working on-site to fix the problem.
Water supply is expected to be restored by 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Residents have been urged to use the available water sparingly during the interruption. The company also noted that water bowser services are available for priority needs, and customers can request the service by dialling *260# and selecting option five.
Nairobi Water said it is maintaining water quality and public health standards during the repair period.
“Nairobi Water regrets the inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience and understanding of its customers as efforts are made to restore normal supply,” the statement read.
