All the 47 Woman Representatives cannot account for Sh4 billion allocated for projects, Auditor General Edward Ouko has revealed.

“Even though there were board minutes to support approval of transfer of funds to the county committees detailing the amounts and the period, the basis of approvals were not provided for verification,” he said in his 2017 report.

Ouko noted that ascertaining compliance has been an uphill task as “records of the county committees’ bank accounts were not provided for examination.”

He further revealed that there could have been misuse of Sh123 million emergency reserve of the national government Affirmative Action Fund.

The fund monies should only be used for emergencies with 2 per cent of the fund being “un-collected” to meet unforeseen problems.

“The expected balance should have been Sh123,600,000 as at June 2017 less any utilisation that should be in line with the regulations,” Mr Ouko said citing failure by the fund management to follow regulations.

“However, no emergency has been reflected and disclosed in the financial statements in terms of the amount.”

On Thursday the Woman Reps kicked out the chairperson of Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA), Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi over graft allegations.

Ms Gedi has been accused of bribing fellow legislators to shoot down the sugar report and protect EAC CS Adan Mohammed.

The Women Members said they cannot condone such kind of leadership tarnishing their names hence the ouster.
