According to Apollo Mboya consumers have constantly been complaining of over billing, reduction of tokens for those who use the pre-paid service, poor customer care and also issues with bill adjustments.

The class action seeks to have customers to get value for money and not get bill estimates as they currently do. Apollo Mboya also seek to reduce the abuse of monopoly that is usually exhibited by KPLC, He says that get more players to distribute the service would ensure efficient distribution and billing.

The Minister of Energy Charles Keter has admitted to the fact that bills have in the past been adjusted and has assured citizens of a systems upgrade to sort the issue. He denied claims that the bills had been backdated.
