Nairobi County’s Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has received international recognition for his efforts in environmental conservation.

Mosiria was awarded by the International Police Organization, a global NGO based in Milan, Italy, for the work his department is doing to protect the environment. He becomes the first person in both Kenya and Africa to receive such an honour from the organization.

“Today, I was privileged to be recognized and awarded by the International Police Organization for the good work we are doing in the Environment Department. I do not take this for granted, as it gives me renewed motivation and energy to continue working hard towards creating positive change in society,” Mosiria said.

He added that his department remains committed to ending pollution and raising public awareness about the importance of a clean and green environment.

Mosiria also won the award for Kenya’s Best Chief Officer at the StarLeaders Awards, organized by Politrack Africa Ltd and held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi. The award celebrated his leadership in driving environmental sustainability, waste management, and green projects across the city.

Speaking after receiving the award, Mosiria dedicated the honour to the people of Nairobi and thanked them for their support. He also praised Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja for promoting sound environmental policies and acknowledged the county environment team for their hard work.

Under Mosiria’s leadership, Nairobi has recorded progress in managing waste, reducing noise pollution, restoring green spaces, and educating the public on environmental matters.

The StarLeaders Awards aim to recognize public servants who demonstrate excellence in service delivery.
