The family of late veteran radio presenter Edward Carey Kwach is appealing for financial support to help clear a Sh4.2 million hospital bill ahead of his burial.

Kwach, a beloved media personality known for his wit, humour, and iconic voice, passed away on April 28, 2025, after a month-long hospital stay. In a statement, the funeral committee called on corporates, friends, fans, and well-wishers to help settle the outstanding medical expenses.

“There are voices you never forget. Edward Kwach was one of them,” the committee said. “He made us laugh, think, and feel like we weren’t alone. From the late 90s until just last month, he lit up our airwaves with wit, theatre, and unforgettable humour.”

Family spokesperson Michael Okwiri said Kwach would be remembered for his warmth, humour, and deep love for music that brought joy to many.

Kwach’s cousin and fellow radio presenter Nick Odhiambo paid a moving tribute, describing him as a trailblazer who made his own journey in media seem possible.

“It’s heartbreaking that some of our shared ideas will never come to fruition, but I will keep the dream alive,” he said.

Colleagues from the radio industry also mourned his death, with Carol Radull calling it “heartbreaking” and describing Kwach as both a friend and a colleague.

His employer, Spice FM, dedicated its show on the day of his passing to honour his memory, while Maina Kageni praised Kwach’s infectious energy and determination.

The family had earlier appealed for blood donations during his hospital stay and has since expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support received.

Kwach, who had worked with Hot 96 FM, Nation FM, Capital FM, Homeboyz Radio and most recently Spice FM, leaves behind a lasting legacy in Kenya’s radio industry.

For those who wish to support the family, contributions can be made via Paybill: 8061531 and Account: Your Name.
