    Three People Found Dead Separately After Murder In Busia And Bungoma Counties

    Police are investigating three separate murder incidents of murder that were recorded in Busia and Bungoma Counties.

    The incidents happened on June 5, police said.

    The first incident happened in Matayos area, Busia County where the body of a woman was found outside a house after suspected murder.

    The woman is suspected to have been killed by her husband after a domestic fight.

    The assailant is believed to have killed the woman and dumped the body in a neighbour’s compound.

    The man was later arrested and is expected to take a murder plea, police said.

    In Mungatsi village Nambale area, Busia, a body was found with a string tied on the neck against a small tree.

    Police said the deceased, Robert Ochieng Makokha, 36 was found on a branch of a small tree outside his house after suspected murder which was staged as suicide.

    His left arm had a cut with bloodstains on his clothes, police said.

    The motive of the murder was not immediately known.

    In Bungoma, police said they arrested a woman for murder after she raised an alarm that led to the killing of a man in the Khalaba area.

    The deceased had ventured into the woman’s house seeking to reconcile with his former wife when the now suspect raised an alarm.

    Locals responded and stoned him to death.

    Police said they are looking for more suspects over the murder.

    The suspect is a mother-in-law to the slain man, identified as only Musa. He had visited the home seeking to reconcile with his former wife when the incident happened.

    Cases of mob lynching are on the rise in villages amid efforts to address the trend.

    Meanwhile, police are investigating two incidents of drowning.

    The first incident happened in Kiamaciri village, Kirinyaga County where one Manasheh Muriithi Muriuki, 58, was suspected to have drowned himself at an irrigation well/waterpan in a suicide mission.

    Kirinyaga County fire brigade team was contacted and responded, where the deceased body was retrieved from the well, having drowned with the body having no physical injuries, police said.

     

    It was established that the deceased went missing on Wednesday evening until Thursday, when his sandals were spotted beside the well thus raising suspicion.

    The deceased is said to have had been issuing suicide threats due to his deteriorating health condition.

    However, no suicide note was recovered, police said.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.

    In Chiakariga, Tharaka Nithi County, a naked body was found on River Kerurumoni.

    Police established that the deceased as Francis Makembo, 66 slipped and drowned while taking a bath at the said river.

    His clothes were found on the riverbank at the scene.

    The body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy.
