    Two Arrested In Mombasa Over Illegal Job Recruitment Agency

    Detectives from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), working with officers from Mombasa Central Police Station, have arrested two directors of a recruitment agency accused of operating without a valid licence.

    According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the officers raided a premises in Makadara area following actionable intelligence, where Al-Wajib Investments Ltd was found running its operations from a residential building.

    The two directors, Bilal Dundo Nyanje and Ali Abu Bakari, were taken into custody. Police said a search at the office uncovered an expired National Employment Authority (NEA) registration certificate, two registers, a receipt book, and the agency’s official stamp, which were seized as evidence.

    “The suspects are currently in custody, undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court,” DCI said in a statement.

    The National Police Service (NPS) has urged Kenyans seeking jobs abroad to verify the accreditation of recruitment agencies with NEA before engaging them.

    “In the meantime, the NPS is intensifying its crackdown on unlicensed recruitment operators, and those found violating the law will face appropriate legal action,” the police added.
