Dreaded Nyamira, Kisii Gang Busted After Violent Robbery Spree

The reign of terror by a three-member gang linked to violent robberies, rape, and defilement in Nyamira and Kisii counties has come to an end.

According to police, detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) linked the suspects to at least three separate robberies — two in Ramasha and one in Magena.

In one shocking incident, the gang attacked the home of a 96-year-old grandmother at night. The elderly woman, a devout Catholic, offered a prayer for the intruders.

Police said the suspects briefly bowed their heads but soon turned violent, consuming all the food and milk in the house before fleeing with electronics.

After weeks of tracking, CRIB detectives, working with officers from Kenyanya and Nyamira, cornered the suspects identified as William Obiero Gekonge, James Mogaka Otego, and Justus Ondieki Nyabuto.

“Recovered in the swoop were stolen electronics and a motorcycle the gang had been using in their criminal activities,” police said in a statement.

The three are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
