The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is appealing for information from members of the public that may lead to the arrest of 28-year-old suspect identified as Wycliffe Otieno Odero in connection with the brutal murder of his wife and two children on September 27, 2025, in Yare area of Samburu Central Sub-County.
On that tragic night, the suspect returned to their rented house on the Maralal–Nyahururu road, where he lived with his wife, Ann Njeri Atheera, and their daughters, Natalia Nyambura (6) and Tyra Jones (4).
In a fit of rage, he attacked his wife, inflicting fatal stab wounds before turning his violent outburst on the two sleeping children, tragically slitting their throats. He then fled into the night and has been evading capture ever since.
Despite ongoing efforts to trail and arrest the suspect, detectives have been unsuccessful thus far. Police want the public to help in arresting the suspect.
Meanwhile, detectives are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found in a house after a domestic fight in Kabete area, Kiambu County.
The woman was identified as Jackline Kangashi, 30. Her body was found on Wednesday October 8 morning lying in her rented house in Mutengo village, Kanyariri hours after she had been killed.
Police said the body had deep cuts in the neck, which were inflicted by a panga.
The suspected assailant who police said was her husband escaped the scene after the attack.
The couple’s children aged nine, six and three were found shaken in the house as their mother’s body lay on the floor.
Police said the body lay in a pool of blood before it was picked up to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
The children were taken away by the woman’s brother-in-law who was called to the scene.
Police said they recovered a panga that was used in the mission.
The children told police the couple had quarreled before the man turned violent and attacked the woman fatally.
The detectives handling the saga said they are hunting for the suspect over the murder.
Such domestic murder incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to solve the cases reported so far.
Elsewhere in Kilgoris, Narok County, a body was found lying along Olalui Road after a suspected murder.
The deceased was a casual laborer identified as David Ogega, 65 and had visible injuries on the face, head and left hand suspected to have been inflicted by a blunt object.
Police said blood was oozing from the mouth and nose and there was sign of struggle at the scene however no murder weapon was recovered and motive of the murder is yet to be established. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said adding a hunt on the killers is ongoing, police said.
