    Pedro Furtado is a Brazilian actor and writer, born on March 27, 1984, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul.

    He comes from a family deeply rooted in the arts, as he is the son of renowned Brazilian filmmaker and director Jorge Furtado, known for works like “The Man Who Copied” and “Isle of Flowers.”

    Furtado began his career in entertainment at a young age, making his debut in films directed by his father and later expanding into television and screenwriting.

    His work often reflects the vibrant cultural scene of Brazil, blending acting roles with creative writing contributions to various projects.

    Pedro grew up alongside his two sisters, Julia Furtado and Alice Furtado.

    Alice Furtado has carved out her own path in the film industry as a director and writer, gaining recognition for her debut feature film “Sick, Sick, Sick,” which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019 and explores themes of love, loss, and the supernatural in a unique Brazilian context.

    Julia Furtado maintains a lower public profile compared to her siblings, with interests in lifestyle, wellness, and personal pursuits such as reading and running, as seen through her social media presence where she shares insights into daily life and achievements like completing half-marathons.

    Career

    Furtado made his film debut in “Houve uma Vez Dois Verões” in 2002, followed by a breakout role as Frederico ‘Fred’ in the popular Brazilian telenovela “Women in Love” in 2003, where he appeared in all 203 episodes.

    This performance earned him widespread attention and nominations as a promising newcomer.

    He continued acting in films like “The Man Who Copied” (2003, voicing Mairoldi) and television series such as “Amazonia” (2007) and “States of Grace” (2011).

    Transitioning into writing, Furtado contributed screenplays to projects including “Good Luck” (2014), for which he adapted the script, and served as head writer for the Netflix series “Sintonia” from 2019 to 2025.

    His writing credits also extend to “As Verdades” (2022), “Beleza S/A” (2013), and “Antônia” (2007), showcasing his versatility in crafting narratives for both film and television.

    Additionally, he worked as a script supervisor on “Basic Sanitation, the Movie” (2007), further demonstrating his behind-the-scenes involvement in production.

    Accolades

    In 2015, Furtado won the Cinema Brazil Grand Prize for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on “Good Luck,” a drama exploring themes of fate and human connection.

    That same year, he was nominated for the Prêmio Guarani in the Best Adapted Screenplay category for the same film.

    Earlier in his career, in 2003, Furtado earned two nominations from Prêmio Qualidade, Brazil, both for Most Promising Actor, one specifically for São Paulo, honoring his performance in “Women in Love.”
