Sir Michael Philip Jagger, known worldwide as Mick Jagger, is an English singer, songwriter, actor, and film producer born on July 26, 1943, in Dartford, Kent, England.

He is best recognized as the charismatic lead vocalist and one of the founding members of the Rolling Stones, the legendary rock band that has defined generations with its blues-infused rock sound and rebellious image.

With his distinctive voice, energetic stage presence, and iconic dance moves, Jagger has become one of the most influential figures in rock music history.

Beyond the band, he has pursued solo projects, acted in films, and co-founded a film production company, maintaining a prolific career that spans over six decades.

    Siblings

Mick grew up in a close-knit middle-class family as the eldest of two sons.

His only sibling is his younger brother, Christopher “Chris” Jagger, born on December 19, 1947, in Dartford, Kent.

Chris has followed a creative path of his own as a musician, singer, songwriter, actor, and producer, though he has often lived somewhat in the shadow of his famous brother.

The two brothers have collaborated occasionally, including performing together and recording duets.

    Career

Jagger’s career began in the early 1960s when he reconnected with childhood friend Keith Richards in London.

Both shared a passion for American blues and R&B.

After briefly studying at the London School of Economics, Jagger abandoned academics to focus on music.

In 1962, he co-founded the Rolling Stones with Richards, Brian Jones, and others, quickly rising to fame with hits like “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

As the band’s frontman and primary lyricist alongside Richards, Jagger helped craft the Stones’ raw, edgy sound and provocative image that challenged social norms throughout the 1960s and beyond.

Over the decades, the Rolling Stones released countless classic albums and embarked on record-breaking tours.

Jagger also explored solo work, releasing albums such as She’s the Boss in 1985, and ventured into acting with roles in films like Performance and Ned Kelly.

He has produced movies and even dabbled in other business ventures.

Despite lineup changes and personal challenges, the band has endured, with Jagger’s dynamic performances remaining central to their success.

His songwriting partnership with Richards produced some of rock’s most enduring anthems, solidifying his status as a cultural icon.

    Accolades

In 1989, Jagger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Rolling Stones.

The band also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jagger has won multiple Grammy Awards, including for Best Rock Album and Best Music Video.

In 2003, he was knighted by Prince Charles (on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II) for services to music, becoming Sir Mick Jagger, an honor he accepted with characteristic humility while noting not to take it too seriously.

He has been ranked among the greatest lead singers of all time by publications like Rolling Stone magazine.

Additional recognitions include induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame and widespread acclaim for his influence on generations of musicians.
