Police in Embu launched investigations into a suspected murder after a 26-year-old woman was found dead in Grogon slums within Majengo area.

The incident was reported on April 10, 2026, police said.

The deceased, identified as Sharon Mwende, is said to have been living with her husband in a single mabati house.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had a domestic dispute on the night of April 9 at around 10:00 p.m., which was reportedly resolved by a neighbor.

However, later that night at around midnight, the husband allegedly called the neighbor back, reporting an emergency.

The neighbor told police that upon returning to the house, she found Sharon lying on the floor in a semi-conscious state.

The husband reportedly claimed that he had woken up to find his wife hanging from the rooftop with a leso tied around her neck, and that he cut her down.

He is said to have assumed she was unconscious due to alcohol consumption and did not seek immediate medical attention.

The situation persisted until around 6:00 a.m. when he alerted the neighbor again, who confirmed that Sharon had died.

Police noted that the deceased had slight bruises on her right hand, raising further suspicion over the circumstances surrounding her death.

By the time authorities arrived at the scene, the husband had fled to an unknown location.

Efforts to trace and arrest him are ongoing.

The scene was processed by crime scene investigators, and the body was moved to Embu County Level Five Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Authorities are treating the incident as a suspected murder pending further investigations.

And police in Kyuso Sub-County, Kitui County, are investigating a brutal murder incident in which a 70-year-old man was killed in Kaliani village.

According to police, the incident occurred on April 10, 2026, at around 4:10 a.m.

Police responded to the scene and found the body of Robert Syengo Mutunga lying in a pool of blood.

Police said the deceased had deep cut wounds on the neck and chin.

Preliminary information indicates that he had been returning from arrangements related to his late mother’s funeral when he was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants.

During the scene processing, investigators recovered a yellow safety cap believed to have been left behind by the suspect(s).

The body was moved to Kyuso Level 4 Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.

Authorities have confirmed that the motive for the attack remains unknown, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
