Brendan Gallagher Siblings: All About Nolan, Breanne and Erin Gallagher

Brendan Gallagher is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger and alternate captain for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League.

Born on May 6, 1992, in Edmonton, Alberta, he grew up in Tsawwassen (Delta), British Columbia, after his family moved there when he was 12.

Gallagher has built a reputation as one of the league’s most determined and gritty forwards, known for his high compete level, physical play despite his smaller stature, leadership, and ability to score timely goals while playing a key role on the power play and in high-pressure situations.

Drafted in the fifth round, 147th overall, by the Canadiens in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, he has spent his entire 14-year NHL career with Montreal, appearing in over 900 games and accumulating more than 480 points while becoming a fan favorite for his heart and work ethic.

Siblings

Brendan is the second-oldest of four siblings raised in a sports-oriented family by parents Ian and Della Gallagher.

His older sister Erin works as a senior cost accountant at Stemcell Technologies in Vancouver.

His younger sister Breanne is a student-athlete who played soccer at the University of Calgary and has been actively involved in family causes, including running the Vancouver Marathon in 2025 to raise funds for brain cancer research in honor of their late mother.

His younger brother Nolan serves as a firefighter with the Burnaby Fire Department.

Career

Gallagher began his junior career with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League, where his father Ian served as a strength and conditioning coach, giving him early familiarity with the organization.

He quickly established himself as a top scorer and leader, posting impressive offensive numbers over four seasons and earning WHL West First All-Star Team honors in both 2010-11 and 2011-12.

His tenacity and scoring touch made him a standout despite being considered undersized for the professional level.

After being selected by Montreal, Gallagher made his NHL debut in the 2012-13 season and rapidly earned a full-time role.

He broke out in 2013-14 with 19 goals and quickly became a consistent 20-plus goal scorer in multiple seasons, including a career-high 31 goals and 54 points in 2017-18.

Known for his ability to battle in front of the net and create scoring chances through sheer will, he has contributed to the Canadiens’ playoff runs, including deep postseason appearances in 2014 and 2021.

Despite injuries and varying team success, Gallagher has remained a constant presence, serving as an alternate captain and mentoring younger players while adapting to different coaching systems.

Accolades

Internationally, Gallagher won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Championship.

In the NHL, he has twice led the Canadiens in goals and points during standout seasons and has been nominated for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his leadership and humanitarian contributions.

While he has not captured major individual league awards, his consistent production, physical play, and longevity with one franchise have earned him recognition as a heart-and-soul player.
