Kenyan football legend Victor Wanyama took centre stage at the Ligi Ndogo Grounds in Nairobi, delivering a powerful masterclass to the All-Stars team from the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Tournament Season 4.
The session, held as part of the build-up to the Season 5 launch scheduled for May 9 in Kisumu County, saw the former Harambee Stars captain share invaluable insights drawn from his professional career.
Wanyama guided the young talents through both on-pitch drills and off-pitch mentorship, emphasizing discipline, consistency, and resilience as key pillars for success in football. He encouraged the players to maximise opportunities presented through the Chapa Dimba platform.
“If opportunities like Safaricom Chapa Dimba were available when I was starting out, I would have gone even further in my career. So, I urge the players to grab this opportunity with both hands and work hard — you never know who is watching,” he said.
Beyond the technical aspects of the game, Wanyama also highlighted the importance of financial literacy, urging the players to develop a saving and investment culture early in their careers.
The interactive session included live demonstrations and real-time feedback, with Wanyama, who recently announced his retirement and is currently pursuing UEFA coaching licenses, engaging closely with the players to sharpen their skills.
The Safaricom Chapa Dimba Tournament continues to play a vital role in nurturing grassroots football talent across Kenya, offering young players a pathway to professional opportunities both locally and internationally.
