Police in Kisii South Sub-County are investigating the death of a man who allegedly died after being forcibly taken from his home and assaulted.

According to police, four individuals are alleged to have gone to the deceased’s home on the morning of June 4, tied him with a rope and taken him to the chief’s office at Entono.

The incident was reported to police on Friday at 8:20 a.m.

Police records indicate that at around noon on Thursday, the deceased’s brother, received a phone call informing him to go to the chief’s office.

Upon arrival, he reportedly found his brother in a critical condition, unable to speak or walk and appearing to have been physically assaulted.

The victim was rushed to Nyangena Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at about 9:30 p.m. on the same day.

Investigators have launched a murder inquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the role of the named suspects. The body is expected to undergo a post-mortem examination as part of the investigations.

Meanwhile, a tense security situation was reported in the Igonga area of Kisii County after angry youths allegedly launched retaliatory attacks following the death of a suspect who had been apprehended by community policing members.

According to police, rowdy youths went on the rampage targeting homes belonging to four community policing members.

Police said at least two houses were set ablaze during the attacks.

Preliminary information indicates that the targeted community policing members had earlier arrested a suspect who is alleged to have died during or after the arrest under circumstances linked to punitive action. News of the death reportedly sparked outrage among residents, leading to plans for revenge attacks against those believed to have been involved.

Authorities noted that no formal report regarding the suspect’s arrest or death had initially been made to any police station, with information only reaching law enforcement later through the area Community Policing Chairman.

Security officers were deployed to the affected area and remained on the ground to prevent further destruction, protect residents and restore calm.

Investigations into both the death of the suspect and the subsequent retaliatory attacks are ongoing. Police have urged residents to remain calm and allow due process as efforts continue to contain the situation.

And a 28-year-old man was killed after rival clans clashed over a long-running land dispute in Kerio Valley Sub-County, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

According to police, the fatal incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. on June 4, 2026, at Enokachee in Kibiriem Location, Tirkiyo Sub-Location within Tot Division.

Preliminary investigations indicate that members of the Kapishoi and Kapsiren clans have been engaged in a dispute over ownership of a piece of land. Tensions reportedly escalated after members of the Kapsiren clan planted maize on the contested land.

Police said youths from the rival Kapishoi clan allegedly invaded the area armed with arrows and machetes and found Anson Kilimo, 28, a member of the Kapsiren clan, on the disputed land.

The attackers allegedly shot him with arrows, inflicting three wounds to his back and stomach. He succumbed to the injuries at the scene.

Officers from Tot Police Station led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), together with personnel from the General Service Unit (GSU) Tot Camp, responded to the incident and moved swiftly to contain rising tensions between the two communities.

The body was removed to Tot Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Security officers drawn from the Kenya Police Service and the GSU remain deployed in the area to prevent further violence and maintain peace as investigations continue into the killing.
