Police have arrested two suspects in Bungoma Town following an intelligence-led operation conducted in collaboration with M-KOPA Kenya Limited.

In a statement on Saturday, police said the suspects had been under surveillance since 2025 before they were tracked down and arrested in a coordinated crackdown.

Investigators believe the duo operated a well-organised syndicate based in Sang’alo area and Bungoma Township, which has been linked to a series of mobile phone thefts and cyber-related offences that triggered multiple complaints from members of the public.

During the afternoon raid, officers recovered a large cache of suspected stolen property and equipment believed to be used in cybercrime activities. The items include 38 M-KOPA HMD mobile phones, 53 assorted mobile phones of different makes, and five specialised flashing tools allegedly used to unlock, alter, and manipulate phone operating systems.

Police said the suspects are currently in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

“The recovered mobile devices and digital tools have been seized and secured as exhibits,” the statement added.
