Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has been accused of spearheading a revolution, following his arrest on Monday.

Mwangi was arrested at his home in Nairobi and moved to Central Police station where he’s detained.

According to an investigative statement seen by Kahawa Tungu, Mwangi is accused of organizing a revolution likely to cause civil unrest in the country.

“…inquiry into the alleged organization of a revolution likely to cause civil unrest and cause a breach of peace.

“I have information to believe that you Boniface Mwangi has information that may assist me with the inquiry, ” the statement by Chief Inspector George Muchiri reads in part.

I have been arrested by @DCI_Kenya from my house. We are headed to Central Police Station. I haven't been told the reason for my arrest.

Recently, he posted photos of President Uhuru Kenyatta insinuating that he is the man who has messed the country, and it could have rubbed the administration the wrong way. This could be one of the reasons he has been arrested, for ‘disrespecting’ the head of state.

In 2015, Mwangi was arrested during a Knock Out Corruption” march to State House, Nairobi.

He was arrested with 25 other activists and detained at Kilimani and Central Police stations before they were released.
