Experts moved to investigate the cause of an incident where an aircraft conducting a skydiving operation made an emergency crash landing at Columbus Beach in Diani, Kwale County, on Saturday afternoon.
The scene was secured overnight ahead of the arrival of the experts.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known. Police said on Sunday the probe will reveal more details on the accident.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 2:50 p.m. on May 2, 2026, involving a Sentient Sky Ltd aircraft, flight number 5Y-MSN.
The aircraft was carrying six ncluding the pilot, a Kenyan national, and five skydivers of different nationalities.y
The skydivers were identified as Robert Kruger from South Africa, Neil Oliver from the United Kingdom, Sharon Gishore and Wanjau Njoroge, both Kenyans, and Wolfgang Luif from Australia.
Authorities confirmed that all six individuals were safely rescued following the incident, with no injuries reported.
Police from Moi International Airport and Diani Airstrip responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash landing.
The scene was secured for further investigations, police said on Sunday as the team inspected it.
The skydiving exercise is popular in the area. Most of those who venture to it are tourists. Officials say there are safety measures that are followed before allowing it.
