    Early Life

Amanda Lourenço Nunes was born on May 30, 1988, in Pojuca, Bahia, Brazil. She was raised primarily by her mother following her parents’ separation and grew up in modest circumstances. Despite early financial hardships, her mother encouraged her to pursue sports as a way to stay disciplined.

Nunes began training at a young age, starting with capoeira at age five and karate at seven. As a teenager, she expanded her skill set to include boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and judo, showing exceptional talent early on. At 17, she moved to Salvador to train full-time, often sleeping at the gym and working there to support herself.

    MMA Career

Amanda Nunes made her professional MMA debut in 2008. After an early loss, she rebounded with several dominant wins, earning a reputation for her knockout power. She competed in Strikeforce and Invicta FC before signing with the UFC in 2013.

Her UFC rise was rapid, with victories over top contenders including Germaine de Randamie, Shayna Baszler, Sarah McMann, and Valentina Shevchenko. In 2016, she captured the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship by submitting Miesha Tate at UFC 200.

Later that year, Nunes cemented her superstar status by knocking out Ronda Rousey in just 48 seconds. She continued her dominance by defeating Valentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm, and Germaine de Randamie.

In 2018, Nunes made history by knocking out Cris Cyborg in 51 seconds to win the UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship, becoming the first female double champion in UFC history.

    Setback and Comeback

In 2021, Nunes suffered a shocking upset loss to Julianna Peña, losing her bantamweight title. However, she reclaimed the championship in dominant fashion at UFC 277 in July 2022, defeating Peña by unanimous decision.

Her final fight took place at UFC 289 in June 2023, where she successfully defended her bantamweight title against Irene Aldana. Following the victory, Nunes announced her retirement, leaving the sport as the only fighter to retire while holding two UFC titles simultaneously.

    UFC Earnings and Income

Throughout her career, Amanda Nunes earned millions from fight purses, pay-per-view points, performance bonuses, sponsorships, and endorsements. Early in her career, she earned modest purses compared to her opponents, but her pay increased significantly as her dominance grew.

By 2020, Nunes was among the highest-paid fighters on UFC cards, reportedly earning $450,000 for headlining UFC 250. Her consistent championship reign and global recognition contributed heavily to her overall net worth.

    Personal Life

Amanda Nunes is married to fellow UFC fighter Nina Nunes (formerly Nina Ansaroff). The couple welcomed their first child in 2020, with Nina giving birth. Nunes has spoken openly about balancing motherhood with her fighting career and remains a prominent advocate for women in combat sports.
