The government issued 9,465 permits last year to Expats a 13 percent increase from the 8,366 in 2017 as per the Economic survey. Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has revealed that officers from the Auditor General’s office tried to get a Sh100 million bribe from his office. He said that the auditor general Edward Ouko was a decent man but his officers were corrupt and had asked for the money in exchange for a good report on the county’s expenditure. Sonko said that the officers had made a report to force him into making the payment which they had reduced to Sh50 million. Diani beach stakeholders peacefully chased away the dredger destroying our beach. Say no to illegal sand harvesting. Many residents said however that  they had no issue with the dredging stating that it was legalized by the government. Others however have said that the dredging would lead to loss of livelihood. Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and Kirinyaga woman representative, Purity Ngirici may face legal action over debt incurred for the hiring of choppers belonging to FlexiAir. Joho is said to have hired a FlexiAir helicopter between October 7 and 17, 2016, at the cost of Sh4.4 million out of which sum Sh2.5 million remains unpaid. Governor Mike Sonko has told a senate committee that his delay in nominating a deputy governor for Nairobi is a non issue.
