Traders in Kitale were left counting losses on Monday morning after a fire raged Kamukunji market on Sunday night. A Nairobi County Assembly representative is set to present a motion for the removal from office of Speaker Beatrice Elachi. Antony Kiragu, Waithaka Ward Representative is seeking for the speaker’s impeachment over abuse of office and gross misconduct. Judicial officers seeking to attend conferences and seminars will be required to seek Chief Justice David Maraga’s permission. In a letter copied to Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi, the CJ noted that ‘organisations and agencies conducting such activities will be expected to address invitations to my office for nomination of participants.’ The CJ also says that some judges, judicial officers and staff have complained that others are favored because they get one too many invites to seminars, conferences. Former Gatundu North MP, Patrick Muiruri has been awarded Sh15.8 million as damages by the High Court after police illegally shot his son, James Ng’ang’a Muiruri. President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered for the procurement of government tenders and awards details to be published from 1 July, 2018. Police are looking for touts who allegedly pushed a Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) student on Wednesday along the Thika Superhighway. The tout pushed the student who has been identified as Doreen out of the moving Githurai 45 bound bus near Safari Park Hotel. Two pupils and a driver from Starlight Academy died this morning in an accident near Sultan Hamud in Makueni County as they were heading to Mombasa. The school driver collided head-on with a trailer as he attempted to overtake a number of vehicles at a high speed.
