Instagram and Facebook users around the globe have reported multiple challenges sending messages through the apps. The app allows users to send messages across the two Meta-owned apps on Messenger, although they can still be sent independently. Internet usage in Kenya has tripled in the past seven years, a report by the Kenya Media Establishment Survey has shown. The survey which was conducted between April 20 and May 20 2022 showed that Radio is the most consumed media outlet in Kenya, followed by television, internet and print in that order. A user on Facebook recently recounted the events surrounding a horrific accident involving a motorbike and a vehicle on Mombasa road. The bodaboda rider had a lady passenger who was rushing to do her errands. They got involved in an accident along Mombasa road. Telkom Kenya might have to put its mobile financial lending plans on hold after delays in obtaining approval for its subsidiaries. The Telco said the Communications Authority of Kenya is delaying approval for the Telkom Digital and T-Kash subsidiaries. In May 2021, Telkom announced plans to form two wholly-owned subsidiaries to house its financial and digital services. The electricity interconnection line between Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia will be complete by 2022, a government official has announced. Acting managing director of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO), Antony Wamukota said that the construction of the interconnectors linking Kenya’s transmission lines to Tanzania and Ethiopia’s national electricity grids will be completed this year. The account was taken over by the infamous crypto scammers who have been hacking, renaming and using the accounts to commit cryptocurrency fraud. In the last 24 hours, 297 people tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 3,100. This brings the total number of confirmed positive cases to 334,249 and the cumulative tests done so far to 3,763,301.The positivity rate is now 9.6 percent. Nairobi recorded the highest number of positive cases at 114, followed by Kiambu with 27, Nakuru with 23, Machakos and Uasin Gishu with 19 and 17 cases respectively. A police officer was arrested in Mombasa on Friday after a foiled robbery. Constable Hellen Wanjiru Wamweu who is attached to Kware Police Station in Embakasi was arrested after attempting to rob a member of the public on Tuesday, June 28. The officer was working with two accomplices, Marube Harrison Biko and Fredrick Gateri. A chief in Wajir county has been jailed after he was found guilty of repeated sexual assault. Chief Kalimoi Shale was sentenced to 40 years in Prison for sexually assaulting an 18 year old girl repeatedly and circulating her nude images on social media. The accused was also ordered to pay a Sh500,000 fine which will be issued tothe victim as compensation. A top official at the Teacher’s Service Commission has been sacked over allegations of corruption, abuse of office and soliciting for tenders from schools. Deputy Chief Executive Kennedy Juma Mulunda is accused of using his position to intimidate more than 10 principals of different schools in Western and Nyanza to award him contracts. A former security guard at a Prime Bank branch in Nakuru has been charged for his involvement in a robbery at the premises in February this year. CCTV footage filed in court show Tobias Juma Mukuyu opening the door for the assailants who then proceeded to rob the bank.
