East Africa’s leading pay TV provider, Zuku has announced that it is gearing to expand its triple-play network after securing Ksh220 million in new investment. The upgrade which is scheduled for completion by the end of October has seen the laying of the ground for the provider to offer speeds of up to 50Mbps on the TV, Internet and VOIP service for customers in Nairobi. Kenya’s bus booking startup, BookNow, has secured $75,000 (Ksh 6.5million) from 10 angel investors through 88mph. The investors include businessmen Mahendra K.D. Shah, Ravi Shah, Ritesh Doshi and four other 88mph investors who went in personally as well. The company will use the funds to expand operations within the Kenyan market by expanding their offerings and hiring more support staff. Amunga who was announced missing on Friday was found at Kenyatta National Hospital’s mortuary after allegedly being run over by a car.  Someone found his body and booked it at the national referral hospital’s mortuary. A university student, David Osano, taking a Bachelor in Commerce course has been accused of raping a female student. David allegedly raped the female student after forcefully dragging her into his room and repeatedly raping her. David is the Personal Assistant to SONU Chairman, Babu Owino. Kenya’s Nakumatt Holdings Limited has officially launched its first of the many upcoming stores in Tanzania. The regional retail giant opened the store at Milimani City promising to buy more Tanzanian products to sell in the store. Nakumatt acquired three shops belonging to South Africa’s Shoprite in Tanzania in a deal pundits say is worth around $45.5 Million. 99 per cent of Nakumatt workers in Tanzania are Tanzanians, helping create employment opportunities. Nakumatt Mlimani is the retail giant’s second store in Tanzania after Nakumatt Moshi which opened in 2011 in Moshi.

Blogger Seth Odongo has been charged with hate speech in a Nairobi court and released on a Ksh 5 million bond or Ksh 2 million cash bail. Seth who goes by the moniker Dikembe Disembe and blogs on Kenya Today, was accused of inciting ethnic emotions through his Facebook account. An US teenager is facing life in prison after being charged with raping Kenyan orphans at Upendo Children’s home in Nairobi. Mathew Lane Durham who volunteered at the home was arrested and charged by FBI agents for allegedly sexually assaulting several children at the home.
