A fire at a shopping centre in the Pakistan city of Karachi has killed six people as firefighters continue to battle the blaze. Parts of the Gul Plaza, containing 1,200 stores and spanning 8,000 sq m (86,111 sq ft), have collapsed which officers said was hampering rescue efforts. A storm wind hit a school in Nakuru and killed a three-year-old girl, police said. Nine other minors were injured in the January 16 incident at the Pascal Academy. Responders said the strong wind blew off the roof of four classrooms including that of PP1, PP2, Grade 1 and Grade 2 where the children were. This left the child dead. The injured who were aged between five and 15 were rushed to hospitals in the area. A boda boda rider was stabbed and killed in an altercation in a bar in Igare area, Kisii County. The incident left one Conlias Onchari, 27 dead. Police said the assailant was a bouncer at the Duke’s Lounge Resort. He is said to have disagreed with the deceased in the bar prompting the fatal altercation. A man fatally stabbed a woman in his house in an altercation in a village in Riruta, Ngando, Nairobi County. The man also stabbed and injured another woman and her 15-year-old daughter in the rage on Saturday January 17 morning, police and witnesses said. A man was found murdered after a confrontation with his wife over money she sent from Saudi Arabia for development at home in a village in Manga, Nyamira County. Five skiers were killed Saturday in a pair of avalanches in the Salzburg Pongau region of western Austria, authorities said. Four skiers were killed by a snow slide in the Gastein Valley, south of of the city of Salzburg, that swept away seven people.
