A 59-year-old man died after he was trapped by an electric pole that he was offloading from a trailer in Modombogho area, Mwatate, Taita Taveta County. Police said the incident happened on August 20, 2025 morning and left Mwakika Mwazo dead. He and other workers were busy offloading the poles when one of them slipped off and trapped his left hand. Tragedy struck a baptism ceremony when one of those being baptized died in the Indian Ocean’s Kijipwa area. Police said a pastor had assembled a group of 24 people for the event on Wednesday August 20 when the incident happened in Pope area. A 73-year-old woman was killed in a fire incident in Kapsita Hindu village, Elburgon, Molo, Nakuru County. The incident happened on August 19 dawn and affected one Phylis Muthoni, police said. Popular Mugithi singer Samuel Muchoki well known by his stage name Samidoh resigned from the National Police Service (NPS) following threat to charge him. Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed the service had accepted the resignation letter. “He is free to pursue whatever he wishes,” said Kanja. Detectives from both the police and the military are investigating an incident in which a body of Kenya Defense Forces soldier was found dead in his house in Sunton area, Nairobi. Neighbors of an apartment said they were disturbed by a bad smell from the ground floor in Maji Mazuri area prompting them to break into the house on Wednesday morning.
