Businessman Yagnesh Devani was Monday ordered to deposit a cash bail of Sh5 million to secure his release after denying charges of fraudulently disposing of mortgaged petroleum products in September 2008.  Milimani Magistrate Thomas Nzyuki said Devani will either deposit the Sh5 million bail with two personal sureties or deposit a bond of Sh30 million with one surety of a similar amount. A Tanzanian driver was killed in a road crash along the Kitengela-Kajiado Road. The accident happened near Ramoda Ken tiles company area at Isinya involving a Mark X and Toyota Sienta. The accident happened on Sunday August 18 in the evening. Police said the Mark X car was heading towards Isinya general direction from Kajiado direction and upon reaching at the location of the accident, he overtook several motor vehicles and before he went back to his rightful lane he lost control of the said car. At least two miners were killed after a goldmine they had ventured into collapsed in Hillo, Moyale, Marsabit County. Police said the incident happened on Saturday August 17 after a group sneaked into gold mining holes at Hillo Walkiti Gold Mining Site at night. One of the mining holes collapsed instantly killing two people. Michael Omondi Ombuya, 39 and John Ogolla Ngeso a male adult aged 27 died on the spot. Police are investigating suspected murder in a case where the body of a woman was found on the roadside in Athi River, Machakos County. The body of Dolphine Moragua Nyamwamu, 30 was found on the roadside in Tuffoam area within Sabaki. She did not have physical injuries at the time of the discovery on Saturday August 17. The body was moved to Shalom Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy. Elsewhere in Kahuro, Murang’a County, one Martin Mwangi Kabura, 29 died after falling into a pit latrine. Businessman Jimi Wanjigi is Monday August 19 expected to face police over claims of sponsoring Nane Nane protests. The detectives will also question him over claims of possession of teargas canisters at his Muthaiga home, Nairobi. He has denied the claims and termed them politically motivated. At least four people, among them a 17-year-old boy, were injured on Saturday night while trying to board a ferry at the Likoni crossing point in Mombasa. Witnesses said the four were injured in a stampede after hundreds of passengers attempted to board the ferry all at once leading to chaos. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Saturday announced that the government will track down and capture hyenas that have been mauling people and causing anxiety in Kiambu County’s Juja estates. Police have joined a probe into an incident where three dogs attacked and killed four goats in a village in Kandara, Murang’a County. The incident happened in Kambui village on August 14, police said. The marauding dogs were captured moments after the incident. A local reported three dogs attacked and killed his four goats as they grazed near his homestead. The dogs had escaped from a kennel they were kept in the area and attacked the goats. Police are investigating an incident in which unknown people attacked and vandalized the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) towers in a village in Marsabit County. The incident happened on August 14 in Karare village where the towers are erected. Locals told police they saw a motorcycle make several trips to the tower and on checking they found the towers had been vandalized.
