Armed police were redeployed back to the Nairobi homes of former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta hours after they had been withdrawn. The same happened at her Gatundu home and other private businesses. Two people were on Wednesday morning shot and injured by police in the ongoing anti-government demonstrations in Migori County. They were admitted to Oruba nursing home hospital. The hospital administrator Mike Ochere confirmed two middle-aged men who suffered gunshot wounds were receiving treatment at the health facility. Police are investigating the death of a Tharaka Nithi politician who was found dead in his car. It is suspected that the former Tharaka Nithi gubernatorial candidate Gitare Mbiuki was either murdered or died by suicide. Mbiuki was found dead in his car parked on the roadside at Kanyuambora area, more than 50 Kilometres from his Weru home in Tharaka Nithi. A Dutch tourist died after he collapsed in his hotel room in Diani, Kwale County. Police said the deceased, Gerald Jan Verwall, 77, had arrived in Kwale on July 11 for vacation with his family. He, however, on July 17 developed breathing problems and collapsed. Police in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam arrested a Kenyan woman after more than 2.3 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in her luggage upon her arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. This follows the Cabinet’s approval of the draft Anti-Money Laundering and Combating of Terrorism Financing Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
