In this Texas school, wearing an all-black outfit will result in a dress code violation.  Charles Middle School, part of the El Paso Independent School District, is prohibiting students from wearing black clothing, citing mental health concerns. Principal Nick DeSantis wrote to parents that a “look” had “taken over on campus with students wearing black tops and black bottoms”, according to local media outlets. The look, he wrote, “has become more associated with depression and mental health issues and/or criminality than with happy and health kids ready to learn”. Material from studio sessions, audio clips and the fresh tunes were uploaded to website 100gigs, with the Canadian rapper posting a screenshot of the site on his Instagram Story. Two major teachers’ unions Wednesday threatened to order their members to go on strike over pending unsolved labour related issues.  The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) said they will call for a nationwide teachers’ strike if the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) fails to implement six resolutions they demand to be addressed. This will add more pressure on the government which is struggling with labor demands from many sectors. The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has turned down Soi Lang’at’s nomination for the position of Gender Cabinet Secretary. In a report presented to Parliament by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah on Wednesday, all other nominees were approved except for Soi Lang’at. “The Committee rejects the appointment of Ms Stella Soi Lang’at,” he read. The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Wednesday announced the release of a new and updated series of banknotes. The new notes will also come with at least four changes in them. In the announcement, CBK said the notes will be in circulation alongside the current ones. All denominations will be affected by the changes. “The Bank has made some changes to the denominations one hundred shillings (Sh100), two hundred shillings (Sh200), five hundred shillings (Sh500) and one thousand shillings (Sh1,000) currency banknotes,” CBK said on Tuesday. Police are investigating the discovery of the body of a woman along Ngong Road in Karen, Nairobi. The body was discovered on Tuesday August 6 evening by pedestrians long after the woman had apparently died. Police said the body had no visible injuries. However, the team that visited the scene at the border of Ngong and Karen and near a bar said there was a clutch next to the body. Investigators said the victim looks about 50 years. Police are holding a woman who allegedly stabbed and seriously wounded her husband in a domestic fight in Nakuru Town. The victim is nursing wounds in hospital after the Monday night incident, police said. The incident happened in Game Park View area in Mwariki Sub Location. Neighbours said they realized their neighbor was screaming for help before they rushed to the scene. It was then they realized the victim aged 29 had allegedly been stabbed by his wife using a broken glass after an argument. Elon Musk’s X/Twitter is suing a group of major companies, alleging that they unlawfully conspired to boycott the site.  It accuses the food giants Unilever and Mars, private healthcare company CVS Health, and renewable energy firm Orsted – along with a trade association called the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) – of depriving it of “billions of dollars” in advertising revenue. Police have arrested at least six suspected robbers and recovered six police communication gadgets from them in a botched robbery at a house in Ruaka area, Kiambu County.  Police said they also recovered two toy pistols from the men in the Tuesday morning incident. Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has told police officers in operations while in civilian to always identify themselves when challenged.  He said it is a standard norm to have such under cover operations but there is need for accountability. Masengeli made the remarks while responding to questions on why some officers are conducting anti-government protests while in civilian. “Any officer in civilian should carry his letter of appointment for identification during operations.
