The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) has confirmed a hyena attack in Rongai on Monday. In a statement, KWS said one of the injured people was a Multi-Media University student who is currently in hospital. The attack happened on Monday evening at around 8.00 pm, at the Ole Kasasi area in Rongai, Kajiado County. “Upon receiving reports, KWS promptly deployed the Problem Animal Management Unit (PAMU), who rushed the men to Wema Hospital in Rongai. Cult leader Paul Mackenzie and 29 other co-accused persons have been charged with the murder of 191 children whose bodies were exhumed from Shakahola forest. The suspects on Tuesday denied the charges before Malindi High Court Judge, Lady Justice Mugure Thande. A Multimedia University student is currently nursing injuries after being attacked by a hyena on Monday. Kelvin Mwenda, 21, was attacked by the wild animal along Masai Lodge road, Kajiado county, at around 8PM. He was rescued by a local, Stephen Romo, who was also hospitalized with grave injuries. A boda-boda rider and his passenger were shot and seriously wounded in a confrontation with members of the National Police Reserve at a roadblock in Rhamu, Mandera County. This is after the rider allegedly refused to heed orders to stop for normal checks at the roadblock along Garsey-Rhamudimtu road, police said. A perimeter wall at the Oshwal Academy in Parklands, Nairobi collapsed and killed a pedestrian. Another pedestrian is fighting for his life in hospital following the Monday afternoon incident, police said. At least four suspects have been arrested over an illegal gas-filling plant in Embakasi that exploded and killed at least six and injured more than 300 people. They include the owner Derrick Kimathi who was arrested alongside three senior officials at the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). US rapper Killer Mike was detained over an altercation shortly after winning three Grammy awards, Los Angeles police said on Sunday. Los Angeles police spokesperson Mike Lopez told the Associated Press that the detention was in relation to an altercation inside the Crypto.com Arena where the ceremony was held.
