Police are investigating an incident in which one of them died by suicide in his compound in Athi River, Machakos County. The body of Corporal James Kimathi Riungu was found in his compound Saturday long after he had died. He apparently locked himself in the compound before he hanged himself in the chicken house. Two people were separately killed by lightning in Kisii and Siaya Counties. Another person is admitted to hospital after the tragedy in a village in Kisii. Police said a mother and daughter were struck as they were sheltering in their kitchen in Emborogo village, Ramasha, Kisii. At least ten Kenya Defence Forces soldiers were Sunday killed in a bomb attack in Baure area, Lamu County. Four others were evacuated after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device along Baure Drum Road. Other officials said the state of those injured was bad. The KDF lorry was using the Baure- Drum main supply route when it ran over a set IED, officials aware of the incident said. Police are investigating an incident in which a freelance journalist was found dead after an apparent suicide in Kikuyu Town, Kiambu County. The body of Joseph Maina Mwangi was found in his house’s door frame long after he had died. He used a shawl to hang himself at the frame, police who visited the scene said. Mwangi lived alone at the house at the time of the incident. The motive of the incident is yet to be known. Egypt voiced anger after Ethiopia announced it had filled the reservoir at a highly controversial hydroelectric dam on the Blue Nile river. Ethiopia has been in dispute with Egypt and Sudan over the megaproject since its launch in 2011. Egypt relies on the Nile for nearly all its water needs. Two construction workers were Saturday seriously injured after their vehicle ran over a bomb set on the road in Baragoni area, Lamu County. Police in Machakos on Friday evening shot dead a suspected carjacker and arrested another during an operation that led to the recovery of a stolen Isuzu D-max truck.
