Detectives Tuesday have arrested a house help linked to the murder of Kilifi County Fisheries and Blue Economy Chief Officer Rahab Karisa. Rahab was stabbed to death at her house in Kilifi on July 20. Police said the house help, Diana Momanyi, was arrested in Kakamega as she sought to escape to Uganda. The woman comes from Bungoma County and had told some friends she intended to leave for Uganda for a while. Former Mungiki leader John Maina Njenga and his brother Peter Njoroge have been released on a a Sh100,000 cash bail each Makadara chief magistrate Francis Kyambîa on Tuesday released Njenga, Njoroge and Felix Ratu for being in possession of offensive weapons contrary to law. An operation that was launched in parts of the North Rift to address cases of banditry will continue. This is four months after the Maliza Uhalifu Operation was launched in six major counties. Police are investigating an incident in which a houseboy is accused of stealing a pistol belonging to a retired military general in a village in Gatundu, Kiambu County. Maj Gen (Rtd) Simon Nduashey Karanja, a former Deputy Force Commander Operations and Plans at AMISOM and Kenya Army reported to police the incident on Monday. Karanja is a licensed firearms holder. Police are investigating an incident in which a 77-year-old woman was killed in a fire incident in a village in Gatanga, Muranga County. The body of Lydia Wanjiku was found in her house long after a fire had consumed her house. The cause of the fire was not immediately established. Locals said they responded to the scene in Karangi village after an alarm and found the house on fire. Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition has suspended the anti-government protests that were scheduled to take place across the country on Wednesday. The protests were to denounce the high cost of living and new Finance Act 2023.
