Members of the National Police Service are set for a pay rise beginning this month following the conclusion of a job evaluation process by the National police service commission (NPSC). Commission’s chairperson Eliud Kinuthia said the review was arrived at following a consensus from a process undertaken jointly with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC). “We have participated fully with the SRC to ensure this is successful,” said Kinuthia Wednesday in a press briefing. Popular Nigerian singer-songwriter Yemi Alade says she has survived a car accident while touring in Spain. Nine steel businesses have been fined Sh338 million by the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) over alleged market distortion and price fixing. According to the competition watchdog, the nine companies have been penalized for increasing the cost of steel products. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has recommended the prosecution of a woman deemed “untouchable”. DCI wants Judy Jepchirchir, owner of First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency, charged with fraud and obtaining monies from unsuspecting Kenyans under false pretense. The agency led by Amin Mohamed sent its probe file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) last week with recommendations to charge her. Investigations have shown a pistol used in the gruesome murder of detective David Mayaka in Kayole, Nairobi previously belonged to an aide of former Agriculture CS Peter Munya. The firearm, police said, was stolen from Charles Wachira Mahinda in 2021 during a robbery incident in Ngong. A 47-year-old man was killed in a fire incident in Nguna area, Gatundu, Kiambu County. George Muhia was sleeping in his house when he was trapped therein and burnt to death, police said. At least two people were Monday night killed in an attack by gunmen believed to be al Shabaab militants in Lamu. The attackers also burnt down at least ten houses in Salama Village. Witnesses and police said over 30 heavily armed terrorists raided the village between 8.30 pm and 11 pm on Monday. Local administrators have confirmed that the terrorists also stole nine goats, TV sets, solar panels and lamps before fleeing to the nearby forest.
